C410/C420 bench configuration
Typically, bench configuration is not required for C410 and C420 devices. However, if bench configuration is preferable for your installation, use the following steps to connect to and configure the device.
Summary of bench configuration settings:
- Admin tab:
- Location — Recommended.
- Description — Recommended.
- Upgrade Firmware — As needed.
- Network tab: Review
- IP Addressing mode — Defaults to Dynamic.
- VLAN configuration — Defaults to working values for installation out of the box. It may be best to leave them as is, until installation is verified and links are up, then update per your network plan. However, you can configure them per your network plan now, if desired. Ensure that these settings are correct.
- DHCP Relay (Option 82), Network Services and SNMP configuration — Recommended, per your network.
Connecting to a network switch that is DHCP enabled for bench configuration is easier than using a PC which requires static IP addressing.
The steps below use a temporary connection to the supplied indoor PoE injector and the WebUI for configuration.
- Connect the C410/C420 to the PoE injector. Connect the PoE injector to an internet-connected switch or PC, and connect the PoE injector to AC power.

-
Access the WebUI of the C410/C420. In your browser's address bar, type:
https://hostname
where hostname is the hostname (KB-XX-XX-XX) or IP address of the radio. See Connecting to the AltoPlex radio for more information.
- A warning screen displays. Click the Advanced button and then Proceed to...
- The WebUI opens at the Status tab.
- Click on the Admin tab.
- Determine the current Firmware version. See the Release Notes for the most current version.
If a firmware upgrade is required:
-
Click the login link in the WebUI header to log in as administrator. The default password is admin.

- Click Upgrade Firmware.
- To upload a new firmware file from your local device:
- Click Choose File and browse to the location of the firmware file.
- Click Start Upgrade.
- To download a new firmware file from a TFTP server:
- Click the Remote File tab.
- For TFTP server, type the URL of the TFTP server.
- Click Check for Newer Firmware.
A message will indicate if the firmware on the TFTP server is newer than the firmware on the device.
- If newer firmware is found, click Start Upgrade.
- To upload a new firmware file from your local device:
-
Enter the Location and Description for the device as specified by your design plan. Consistent, meaningful names are recommended. The Altowav Gen3 Edge Manager uses these fields to tag devices that populate the map.- Click the Save Changes button.

- Determine the current Firmware version. See the Release Notes for the most current version.
- The LAN tab is used to enable or disable the port.

- Adjust settings on the Network tab and Submit Changes after each section:
- Network Reachability Configuration including the management network interface configuration, VLAN configuration, and port isolation.

- Additional Layer 2 Configuration (Spanning Tree Protocol)

- SNMP Configuration

- Network Services Configuration
